Discuss this film on the Exploding Goldfish Blog Watch the related vodcast episode The Magical Murderous Kingdom of Eat Street was the first film project I completed at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. It was made for a 2D design class, the first assignment of which was an open-ended call for a piece of art that illustrated "Eat Street," a section of Nicollette Avenue near MCAD, so dubbed by the Minneapolis chamber of commerce because it houses a lot of restaurants. I'll admit the name is catchy, but I am not a fan of marketing speak, and so I set out to try and discover the other possible ways one might sell the notion of Eat Street, by an increasingly frantic and incoherent salesman. The film was shot in three shoots: one afternoon on location, one afternoon at MCAD, and a few hours in front of a bluescreen. Post-production took a little extra time, but I'm particularly proud of the explosion and freeze-frame at the end. No, I didn't receive payment from the Minneapolis chamber of commerce for this. But I should have. -Andrew Gingerich
